The Author

The author and curator of The Trance of Waiting is named Kyle Davis. He was born in 1986 and can mostly remember when the Mariner’s played home games in the King Dome. He definitely remembers when that one guy was skateboarding on top of the King Dome about a month before it was demolished by implosion. He is a graduate of the University of Washington where he studied English and Creative Writing. He currently lives in Seattle with his wife, their two cats, and their television set.

Kyle also contributes, on occasion, to the baseball blogs Call to the Pen and FanSided MLB.

Do you remember 1995? As a Yankees fan 4 years older than you I am scarred for life by Randy Johnson, Junior Griffey & Edgar.

Oh yes, absolutely. It’s hard to say at this point what comes from actual memory and what comes from countless viewings of video, but that was a hell of a series. The Double is probably the defining moment for just about every Mariners fan. The way I remember Randy Johnson as a Mariner, it seems impossible to me that he went on to Arizona and actually became MORE dominant. Two ok seasons in New York, too!

at least you got a nice haul from the Astros for Unit. a solid #2 starter and above avg middle infielder. no one thought he was going to turn into Lefty Grove in Phoenix.
